After watching the slow decline of their box hedging, the owners of this country house decided to have them removed and start again with a new design for their front garden.

To complement the Georgian architecture of the property, the design solution was to create central rectangular flowerbeds inspired by the house windows in order to balance the house and garden. To introduce some more contemporary elements, the beds are constructed with steel edging, which will rust over time to complement the red brick house and surrounding walls.

Front gardens need to look good year-round, and from all angles, so the planting beds are filled with topiary balls of different sizes to provide evergreen structure, with herbaceous planting and evergreen grasses weaved in between.  The top section, leading to the back garden, introduces more curves and looser planting, with star jasmine clothing the walls.
